Following on from their 2017 ‘Welsh Music Prize’ nominated debut ‘Life in Analogue’, ‘Ofni’ is Cotton Wolf sophomore album. Set against a thematic backdrop of social uncertainty, the album’s darker material is simultaneously imbued with anxious paranoia and hopeful positivity. The new tracks from the Cardiff duo showcase a bolder production with faster tempos and purer electronic sounds, alongside hypnotic, abstract and melodic ideas inherent to their previous release. Whilst the bulk of the album is instrumental, the title track features an ethereal vocal contribution by Adwaith’s Hollie Singer.
The cover artwork is by Louise Mason. Layout and Typography is by Ctrl Alt Design. The cover is printed with a magenta foil and the vinyl is pressed on red vinyl.

Pipe Down, aims to be an insight into the “stigmatised subject of addiction” while “bringing recovery into the world, and the world into recovery”.
Editor Araminta Jonsson said the magazine aims not only to target people who are in recovery, but also families of those in recovery or people who work in the sector, for example. The aim is to hook the readers with humour and then touch on something that can help with recovery.

This was a personal project where i documented all the gigs I attended in 2016 with my partner. It was an opportunity to remember the first year of our relationship together, and to explore the disciplines of 50’s and 60’s Swiss typography and geometric shapes.
All the posters have a similarity in style, mimicking the early Swiss design styles of Armin Hoffman and Emil Ruder (to name a few).

Award-winning brand creation and vinyl template design for Recordiau Lliwgar.
Both ‘Y Record Goch’ and ‘Y Record Las’ were designed and illustrated as a series of Welsh language double 10″ records. The design and style pays homage to Romek Marber‘s ‘The Marber Grid’, which was used for Penguin books from 1962. The illustrations also mirror the designs at the time by Marber and Germano Facetti.
The aim was to create simple geometric patterns, limited to 3 colours and to hold true to the grid system designed by Marber.
Ctrl Alt Design received a Best of Welsh Design Award at Cardiff Design Festival 2012 for this bold and bright design. Record Collector and producer Dyl Mei described it as “The best Welsh album cover ever!”.
The brand for Recordiau Lliwgar needed to convey the idea of colour, but had to work in black or white, so it wouldn’t interfere with the colour of the theme. The final design was a Pinwheel, which is usually thought of as being a colourful object, whilst also being a geometric, simple object which complemented the design of the record sleeves.
